The Rochester Garden Club conducts the following service projects on an annual basis:
Each April, members teach approximately 350 pre-school children enrolled in the Rochester Community Schools Pre-K Program about gardening. Members go to the classrooms to teach the children and plant a small take-home garden of vegetables and flowers.
In May, members plant annual flowers at many Rochester community buildings and parks.
Co-hosts an annual Garden Tour with the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm, held the third Thursday in June.
Actively involved in planning and maintaining the Children’s Garden at Van Hoosen Farm throughout the year.
In September, Beautification Awards are given to Rochester area businesses, subdivisions and public facilities that have helped to beautify the community through their plantings and/or landscaping.
Branch members conduct horticultural therapy activities for senior citizens and youth on a monthly basis. A tea, complete with flowered hats, is always a favorite activity for the seniors.
- Conducts a Greens Market, held annually since 1946, on Friday and Saturday during the week following Thanksgiving. All Greens Market profits are returned to the community through Projects and Financial Gifts.
Christmas swags are donated to many community buildings each December. We also help decorate for the holidays at the Community House and Van Hoosen Farm Museum.
